Prof. dr. J. (Jerry) Braun is cardiothoracaal chirurg en heeft als aandachtsgebieden de chirurgische behandeling van hartfalen, de chirurgische behandeling van hartritmestoornissen, en (oncologische) longchirurgie en thoraxchirurgie.

Zijn opleiding tot cardiothoracaal chirurg volgde hij in het Leids Universitair Medisch Centrum, waar hij sinds 2006 als staflid werkzaam is.

In 2012 promoveerde hij op het onderwerp "Surgical Treatment of Functonal Mitral Regurgitation".
