Prof. dr. M.G. Hazekamp

Prof. dr. M.G. (Mark) Hazekamp is cardiothoracaal chirurg en heeft als specialisme de kinderhartchirurgie en behandeling van aangeboren hartafwijkingen. Zijn opleiding tot cardiothoracaal chirurg volgde hij in het Leids Universitair Medisch Centrum, waar hij sinds 1991 als staflid werkzaam is bij de afdeling Thoraxchirurgie. Hij promoveerde in 1996 op het proefschrift "Stentless biovalve prostheses".

In 2001 werd hij tot hoogleraar benoemd. De titel van zijn oratie was "Hoe eerder, hoe beter".

Zijn aandachtsgebieden zijn de cardiothoracale chirurgie, de kinderhartchirurgie, de aangeboren hartafwijkingen, de tracheachirurgie, hartklepreparatie, hartkleponderzoek en controle en verbetering van de kwaliteit van kinderhartchirurgische zorg.
