Dr. A.P. (Hadrian) Wijnmaalen is cardioloog met als aandachtsgebied elektrofysiologie.

In 2012 promoveerde hij op het onderwerp "Substrate of Ventricular Tachycardia". Het onderzoek richtte zich op het bestuderen van de oorzaak van levensbedreigende kamerritmestoornissen. Katheterablatie is een mogelijk curatieve en toenemend belangrijke behandelingsmogelijkheid voor deze ritmestoornissen. In het onderzoek werd deze techniek bestudeerd en verder ontwikkeld.
