
In 2011 we published an article on the cardiac regenerative ability of human mesenchymal stem cells derived from fetal and embryonic mesenchymal stem cells. We then hypothesized that a subpopulation might exist. Khong et al. now indeed show that there is a subpopulation among mesenchymal stem cells derived from young donors which have an increased pro-regenerative potential.
