Biagini E, Schinkel AF, Rizzello V, van Domburg RT, Pedone C, Elhendy A, Krenning BJ, Bountioukos M, Vourvouri EC, Branzi A, Rapezzi C, Simoons ML, Bax JJ, Poldermans D
The presence of a right bundle branch block (RBBB) is associated with increased mortality. We studied the role of dobutamine stress echocardiography for the prognostic stratification of patients with RBBB. The presence of an abnormal dobutamine stress echocardiography was the strongest predictor of cardiac events and provided incremental prognostic information to clinical and stress test data. Abstract

Cyberpsychology & behavior : the impact of the Internet, multimedia and virtual reality on behavior and society, Volume 7, Issue 5, 1 1 2004, Pages 540-552 Presence within a mixed reality environment. van Schaik P, Turnbull T, van Wersch A, Drummond S
Mixed reality environments represent a new approach to creating technology-mediated experiences. However, there is a lack of empirical research investigating users' actual experience. The aim of the current exploratory, non-experimental study was to establish levels of and identify factors associated with presence, within the framework of Schubert et al.'s model of presence. Using questionnaire and interview methods, the experience of the final performance of the Desert Rain mixed real... Abstract

American journal of physical anthropology, Volume 125, Issue 2, 1 1 2004, Pages 162-174 Intra-and interpopulational differences in orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus) activity and diet: implications for the invention of tool use. Fox EA, van Schaik CP, Sitompul A, Wright DN
Tool manufacture and use have been described for wild orangutans (Pongo pygmaeus), with appreciable interpopulational differences in tool complexes. The ecological factors that contribute to these differences require investigation. Significant interpopulational differences in diet suggest that ecological factors contribute to variation in tool-based insect foraging. Using 4 years of behavioral data from the Suaq Balimbing Research Station (Sumatra, Indonesia), we tested predictions of two ecolog... Abstract

The American journal of cardiology, Volume 94, Issue 6, 1 1 2004, Pages 733-739 Prognostic value of dobutamine stress echocardiography in patients with systemic hypertension and known or suspected coronary artery disease. Sozzi FB, Elhendy A, Rizzello V, van Domburg RT, Kertai M, Vourvouri E, Schinkel AF, Bax JJ, Roelandt JR, Poldermans D
Currently, there are no outcome data to suggest an incremental value of stress echocardiography in the risk stratification of patients who have hypertension after controlling for the left ventricular mass index (LVMI). This study assessed the incremental value of dobutamine stress echocardiography (DSE) for the prediction of mortality rate and cardiac events in patients who have hypertension. We studied 596 patients who had hypertension (mean age 62 +/- 12 years; 382 men) and who underwent DSE f... Abstract

The Journal of clinical endocrinology and metabolism, Volume 89, Issue 9, 1 1 2004, Pages 4391-4396 Circulating free insulin-like growth factor (IGF)-I, total IGF-I, and IGF binding protein-3 levels do not predict the future risk to develop prostate cancer: results of a case-control study involving 201 patients within a population-based screening with a 4-year interval. Janssen JA, Wildhagen MF, Ito K, Blijenberg BG, Van Schaik RH, Roobol MJ, Pols HA, Lamberts SW, Schröder FH
Recent studies have reported that serum IGF-I levels in the highest quartile of the normal range and IGF binding protein-3 (IGFBP-3) in the lowest quartile of the normal range are associated with an increased risk of future prostate cancer and/or presence of prostate cancer. It has also been suggested that the measurement of circulating total IGF-I concentrations might be a useful tool for the early detection of prostate cancer in men with moderately increased prostate-specific antigen (PSA) lev...
