Boesjes CM, van der Gang LF, Achten RE, Bakker DS, van der Rijst LP, Dekkers CC, van Wijk F, Haeck IM, de Bruin-Weller MS, de Graaf M
Introduction: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a prevalent chronic inflammatory skin disorder and has a considerable impact on patients' quality of life. Dupilumab, the first biologic approved for moderate-to-severe AD, is a human monoclonal antibody targeting the interleukin (IL)-4 receptor α, thereby blocking both IL-4 and IL-13 signaling, key drivers of type 2 inflammation in AD. Its introduction has marked a paradigm shift in the management of AD and paved the way for future therapies. As real... Abstract

Annals of vascular surgery, Volume 123, 1 1 2025, Pages 502-513 Rupture Risk of Large Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms: A Scoping Review. Paping JHM, Bulder RMA, Lancaster E, Chang RW, Putter H, Hamming JF, Lindeman JH
Background: Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) management is currently dictated by the 55 mm intervention threshold. While it has been suggested that this intervention threshold is too conservative, the rupture risk of AAAs larger than 55 mm is discussed differently. This scoping review aims to critically summarize and review the available evidence with respect to the rupture risk of larger AAA. Methods: A quantitative and qualitative evaluation of the available literature on the rupture risk of la... Abstract

Gessner R, Hübner AC, Stöbe S, Rudolph UM, Unger L, Schmeisser A, Steendijk P, Uhe T, Stegmann T, Lavall D, Hagendorff A, Laufs U, Wachter R
Background: Diagnosing heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) remains challenging. Noninvasive diagnostic algorithms have been proposed but not tested against the gold standard, ie, invasive measurement of left ventricular (LV) pressure-volume loops (PVL). This study's aim was to estimate the prevalence of HFpEF in euvolemic patients with unexplained exertional dyspnea by using LV PVL and to validate noninvasive diagnostic algorithms. Methods and results: We included patient... Abstract

Bouwknegt DG, Hoekstra B, Donker HC, van Es B, Groen H, Dijkstra G, van Dop WA, Tauber T, van der Woude CJ, Visschedijk MC, Dutch Initiative on Crohn and Colitis (ICC)
Background and aims: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) often coincides with pregnancy, and disease activity during pregnancy increases the risk of adverse outcomes. We aimed to determine how disease course before conception influences relapse risk during pregnancy, adjusting for established risk factors. Methods: In this multicenter, retrospective cohort study, we included adult women with IBD who were pregnant during treatment at one of three university hospitals between 2017 and 2022. Using gen... Kies PJ, Kim WJ, Fleming D, Bozyel I, Holtegaard S, Shrivastava S, Schwartz K, Schwieder S, Beyenal H, Patel R
Mammalian skin maintains complex repair mechanisms after barrier disruption. Chronic wounds develop when these events are not efficiently completed, increasing infection risk. With ~2% of the population afflicted yearly, chronic wound care needs new technologies. Here, a Phase 0/1 study of one such therapeutic intervention is presented- H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide)-producing electrochemical bandages (e-bandages) controlled by wearable micropotentiostats. The e-bandages generate H2O2 in precise, micr... Abstract
