Schmeißer A, Rauwolf T, Groscheck T, Fischbach K, Kropf S, Luani B, Tanev I, Hansen M, Meißler S, Schäfer K, Steendijk P, Braun-Dullaeus RC
Aims: Failure of right ventricular (RV) function worsens outcome in pulmonary hypertension (PH). The adaptation of RV contractility to afterload, the RV-pulmonary artery (PA) coupling, is defined by the ratio of RV end-systolic to PA elastances (Ees/Ea). Using pressure-volume loop (PV-L) technique we aimed to identify an Ees/Ea cut-off predictive for overall survival and to assess hemodynamic and morphologic conditions for adapted RV function in secondary PH due to heart failure with reduced eje... Our understanding of the complexities of valvular heart disease (VHD) has evolved in recent years, primarily because of the increased use of multimodality imaging (MMI). Whilst echocardiography remains the primary imaging technique, the contemporary evaluation of patients with VHD requires comprehensive analysis of the mechanism of valvular dysfunction, accurate quantification of severity, and active exclusion extravalvular consequences. Furthermore, advances in surgical and percutaneous therapi... Abstract

We investigated genome folding across the eukaryotic tree of life. We find two types of three-dimensional (3D) genome architectures at the chromosome scale. Each type appears and disappears repeatedly during eukaryotic evolution. The type of genome architecture that an organism exhibits correlates with the absence of condensin II subunits. Moreover, condensin II depletion converts the architecture of the human genome to a state resembling that seen in organisms such as fungi or mosquitoes. In th... Abstract

Objective: The long-term success of endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) is limited by complications, most importantly endoleaks. In case of (persistent) type I endoleak (T1EL), secondary intervention is indicated to prevent secondary aneurysm rupture. Different treatment options are suggested for T1ELs, such as endo anchors, (fenestrated) cuffs, embolization, or open conversion. Currently, the treatment of T1EL with liquid embolic agents is available; however, results are not yet addressed. This... Abstract
